Point Dogbark.com >> How To >> Email >> iPhone Mail (Software ver. 2.0)

The iPhone mail program is very similar to your OSX Mail program, and is easy to setup.

  1. Go to the home screen on your iPhone.
  2. Click on the "Settings" icon
  3. Click on the "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" button
  4. Prefs
  5. This will take you into the Mail portion of the settings. From there, click on "Add Account..."
  6. Add_Account
  7. At the next screen you'll be presented with a number of different mail account types. For the purposes of this guide (and this is for most of our customers), we'll be setting up a "POP" email account. At this point, click on "Other" to setup your dogbark email account.
  8. Other Account
  9. Next you'll need to enter some basic information about your email account. You'll need to enter the following information and press "save."
    • Name: This will be your name as you would like it to appear to recipients when you send mail.
    • Address: Your email address with Dogbark.
    • Password: The password to your POP account.
    • Description: This is simply for the iPhone so you know which account is which.
  10. Basic Information
  11. On the next screen you'll have the option of choosing the account type and then you'll enter the rest of the account information.
    • Host Name: mail.yourdomainname.com
    • User Name: your POP account username which will look like fid887 in format.
    • Outgoing Mail Server: smtp01.dogbark.com with no username or password
Now you can press save and move onto the next screen.
  12. Type
    Incoming Server
    Outgoing Server
  13. This will take you to the advanced setup screen. You'll want to be sure SSL is set to OFF. The only thing you may want to change is the "delete off server" area. If this is the only device checking your email account you may want to set it to delete off of the server in a week or so. This will keep the servers clear of excess mail ensuring that you have the fastest delivery possible. If you check your account from a home computer as well you'll want to leave that set to "never."
  14. Advanced
  15. Almost there folks. You'll now find yourself at the outgoing mail server section of the setup. You'll want to make sure Server is "ON." The hostname should be set at smtp01.dogbark.com with no username or password. Also, SSL should be set to OFF, and the server port should be set to one of the following: 587 (default on iPhone), 25, or 10025.
  16. Outgoing Setup
  17. That should take you to the final screen, just make sure the account is "ON" and you'll be ready to check your emails from your iPhone.
  18. Complete
