If you'd like to setup a place on your site that is reserved specifically for a particular client then follow these instructions. You can create a directory (file folder) for your clients to go to where they can download images, files, artwork, etc. Here's an easy way to do this.

Create a Clients Directory

Using your FTP program create a folder on your site in the "htdocs" directory and name it "clients". Or you can name it whatever you prefer.

Create a Directory Named

Now that you have a directory called "clients" create another directory and name it whatever you want. Like ”forbes“ or "chiatday". This is the directory to which you will upload your files or images.

Upload Your Files

Now that you have your directory structure in place you can upload your image(s) to the client directory. Simply "put" your files to the directory on the server using your FTP program. Fetch is an easy litle program for doing this kind of one-at-a-time uploads.

Email a link to your client

Now that you have files in the directory for your client you can simply tell them in an email where to find them. The location is domainname.com/clients/clientname. So for the example above you could go to http://www.domain.com/clients/chiatday. This address would show a list of the files they can download.

Delete Your Files

Once the client has downloaded the image you would be wise to delete it from the server. Sending images like this could bump you over the allowed storage space for your plan. Besides, it's best to keep files you are not using off the server.

Concerns

What about someone other than my client downloading my files? You want to keep people you don't authorize away from your clients' files. The easiest way is to put an "index.html" in the "clients" directory. You can put a message on this page saying something to the effect that if they are looking for something to call you directly.
