>> FTP >> Adobe Go-Live 8 (MAC)
In this "how to" I will walk you through setting up a new site in GoLive, and the basics of publishing to the server.
• Setting Up a New Site & Uploading
- Go ahead and open Go-Live and you will be prompted with a start up window
- Click on the "New Document" button.

- In the window please make sure that "Create Site" is highlighted on the left hand
side. Then select "Blank Site" to create a new web site. Finally, push the "Next"
button in the bottom right corner.

- Next, fill in the name of your site, this is for your ID only.
- Then you'll need to pick a local folder to save your files on. This is so that you have a back up on your computer. Choose a folder by pressing the "Browse" button.
- Hit the "Next" button again.

- The next screen will ask you about version control. For this demo, I am not going to use this, so I'll just hit "next." But if you want to use that please feel free to do so.
- At this point, you will click on the "Specify Server Now" radio button and
enter the following information:
- Nickname- your nickname for this particular site
- Protocol- FTP should be checked
- Server- ftp.your_domain_name.com
- Directory- /htdocs/
NOTE: If you do not put this in correctly your web site will not be visible by any browser. Please make sure you copy that exactly. - Username- your dogbark FTP username goes here.
- Password- your dogbark FTP password goes
If you do not have these please go to the dogbark account manager to find this information.
- Now push the "Finish" button on the bottom right hand side.

- At this point you will get a window that is divided in half. If you look at the picture below, you'll see the left side is your computer, and the right side is what is "live" on the server.
- Finally, you will need go click on the "sync" button on the top toolbar of Go-Live as shown below.
- As you create files they will show up on the left side, which is your computer.
You'll want to drag them to the server on the right hand side for the files to "Go Live."
Get it "Go Live"? Like the program you are using. Okay never-mind...(wow)

"Go Live" has some helpful information if you follow along with their tutorials. As always, when you first get a program, we highly recommend using these tutorials to get a good background of how the program works before you try building your site from scratch.
Now that wasn't so hard was it? Give yourself a nice paw on the back. If you have any other questions, please contact dogbark's friendly support staff at 877-864-7929 or email us at info@dogbark.com
