Happy Friday fellow dogbarkians.
We've got some great news for you that you don't want to miss.
Recently we've added an SMTP (outgoing mail) server to our services and we'd like to invite you to begin using it. We're not making it available to the general public just yet; only to some of our most loyal customers. So, if you're ready to get rid of your ISP's SMTP servers, then keep reading.
To setup your email to use SMTP replace your current SMTP server settings with: smtp01.dogbark.com
In order to send mail through dogbark.com's servers, you'll first need to POP (get your email via our servers) within 5-10 minutes before trying to send an email. This security is in place to prevent spammers from sending email via our servers. If you set your email program to check mail every 5-10 minutes, you shouldn't have to worry about anything.
Here's some more information about the SMTP server:
- Max File attachment: 10MB
- Max Number of recipients: 100 (due to spamming)
- If your location (ie hotspot) blocks port 25, you won't be able to send mail through our servers (or most other servers for that matter. Port 25 is the default SMTP Port).
- If you get an error when sending mail, try checking mail again, then send again.
How to Setup SMTP
If you're using the Apple Mail program here's how to change your settings.
Open Mail
Click on "Mail" then "preferences"
Click on the "Accounts" Tab.
Click on your dogbark email account (the blue @ symbol)
Click on "Account Information"
Click on the drop down menu where your current SMTP server is listed (at the bottom of the preferences box).
Click on "Add Server"
Type in "smtp01.dogbark.com" (without the quotes)
Leave the rest as-is and click "ok"
Then select "smtp01.dogbark.com" as your Ourgoing Mail Server
Close the preferences box.
You're all set!
This will allow you to send email via your Mail program regardless of where you are connected to the internet. Going to a coffee shop? No problem, this SMTP will work there.
We're committed to offering the best services possible and this is another way we're delivering to you. If you have suggestions for us as to how you'd like to see our hosting improved, please let me know.
Cheers,
