This is a friendly reminder to check on the status of your domain name registration. This is separate from your webhosting account with us, but as important. Failure to renew your domain name can cause your site and email to go down. Can't remember where your domain name is registered? Do a WHOIS lookup here: FYINIC.

mySQL Databases

Mac Tip of the Month

Is Apple Mail sluggish? You might try rebuilding the Envelope Index. That's the database that keeps track of where mail and attachments are stored, and it doesn't get rebuilt when you rebuild mailboxes. There's a handy utility just for this purpose: SpeedMail (http://www.1802.it/speedmail.php).

Disclaimers:
You should always backup your mail directory before running a non-Apple utility like this. Neither DogBark nor the author of this utility is liable for lost data. DogBark is not affiliated with the author of SpeedMail, just a fan of what it does. this utility will not speed up IMAP accounts, nor will it speed up POP accounts leaving a large amount of mail on the server. If you are running Leopard (10.5.x), this utility may cause a few irritations: you may have to recache any IMAP accounts; you may lose sync of to-do items between Mail and iCal.

Planned Server Outage

On Saturday morning the 19th, beginning at 2am CST, we will be shutting our servers down for a power upgrade. During this outage, your websites and email will be unavailable. The maintenance will last for 2 hours. We've attempted to do this at an hour of the day that is the least invasive for you, our customers. Should you have concerns about this, please direct all questions to Harry.

Cheers,
